Tri- M MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Tri-M member consideration is open to all members of the Lafayette High School Music Department who meet the following criteria:
Music Participation
Student must be currently enrolled in a music class at Lafayette at the time of application or renewal AND have at least one semester of prior membership in a Lafayette music class. Music courses at Lafayette include band, chorus, orchestra, piano, music theory, and color guard classes.
Academic Achievement

Leadership
Leadership experience comes from any position of authority you have held in your personal or professional life. Any school or community activity that students are actively involved in will suffice. A few examples of places where you may have held or hold a leadership role may include sports teams, social groups, internships, volunteering, student clubs, group projects, cultural activities, or mentoring. Leadership roles in both school and community may be considered as long as they can be verified.
Service
Service activities include any actions undertaken by the student that are done with or on behalf of others without any direct financial or material compensation to the individual performing the service. Volunteering and mentoring are the two most common types of service.
Character Fitness
Members and applicants are expected to have and maintain a clean discipline record. One description of character is a person who demonstrates respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
Application and Teacher recommendation forms
Prospective candidates must complete the online application and will provide two recommendations. One form must be from a member of the Lafayette High School Music Faculty.
